Describing food

M&S
Words such as 'classic,' 'hand-cooked,' 'full on flavour' and 'luxury' allow all products to appear individual, special and luxurious. The use of a simple adjective will make the difference of how appealing a product is.

Promoting through magazines

Waitrose

As part of my crit, one suggestion was to promote the range through magazine such as the Waitrose magazine, other department store brochures etc. So I have had a look at the online magazine to see what kind of things it could contain and to see if I could create a page to promote my range.

Harrods

Christmas hamper magazine, showcasing Christmas ranges, I could quite easily try and produce something similar, photograph my own range and promote it through a magazine.

Nets

Looking at nets for my range. I have thought about a few options like:
  • All tall, long boxes to look elegant- this may not work with the food though
  • Unique. 'fancy' boxes to look 'posh'
  • All blocks four sided block kind of boxes so that the fit next to each other to spell a word
  • All boxes to have a handle
  • All boxes to be completely different
Need to make some decisions. I have been looking at some here are some I like:

Bottle holders

Long, tall boxes look elegant

Blocks

Again, long and tall

This would be good for sandwiches, although wouldn't be good for fitting with the range to spell a word, could carry it's own word

Quite stylish with the curves

Coba & Associates

“Adoré are hand-made chocolates and as such fall under the category of higher quality status both in terms of product quality and packaging design, as well as consumer communication. Bearing in mind the active period in the development of the brand, we needed to create packaging for a new product – the chocolate tablet. The idea was to come up with packaging for 10 different flavors.
Each flavor got its own look and name! Whether it is Crunchy Mint or Orangella, each flavor received a specific packaging which are (from a production standpoint) very specific in this region. Using thermal block foil, laser-cut paper and special printing techniques have resulted in designs that communicate that Adoré Chocolate provides more than just taste – it is a brand that takes you on a journey.”
I really like the cut out element to thse packages showing a contrasting colour behind the cutout. This is something I have taken into consideration and quite possibly an element I am going to include in my designs. My design Practice

Project- Cha Tang tea room menu
Stock- GF Smith tapestry glace applique
Print technique- Metallic foil on embossed stock
Additional techniques- Hole-punched and gatefolded

The pearlescent and embossed floral pattern of the GF Smith Tapestry stock was chosen to reflect the elegance of the tea-room atmosphere  and eliminated the need for an otherwise costly embossing process.

Ornate script and serif graphics are lent a contemporary sharpness by foil blocking in a vibrant red.
